My name is Ron Taylor, a specialist kitchen painter and decorator based in Kenilworth, Warwickshire. My focus is painted kitchens, painted furniture, coving and decorative spray painting.

I am a traditional time-served painter and decorator, and my family-owned business, RJ Taylor Decoration Ltd, has been established over 30 years.

Specialist in water-based paints for woodwork

Although I am an old school decorator, in 2004 I went out on a limb, and started to focus on modern water-based paints only. It wasn’t easy, because at that time, the UK trade mainly used oil-based paint on woodwork and the choice of reliable water-based gloss and eggshell was limited, but it was the best investment I ever made in my trade, especially as legislation in 2010 all but sounded the death knell on oil paint for general use!

After 7 or 8 years’ study, I have since become a recognised authority in the UK on how to achieve the highest standards of finish on woodwork, using acrylic and water-borne paints. I am equally at home with a brush, roller or spray equipment, and use the best combination to suit each job.

Fast drying times and low odour are just two of the advantages of water-based paint over oil. Whilst I do use oil paint periodically, I am more than happy to offer water-based finishes to my clients and stand by the results!

Trade Associations

Traditional Painter Warwickshire
I am a part of the Traditional Painter team of independent UK kitchen painters. I cover kitchen and furniture painting projects throughout Warwickshire across to Coventry and down to Banbury.

Membership to the group is by invitation only, strictly no entry fee, and as well as high technical skills, each member has to demonstrate a commitment to promote excellence in the decorating trade. The group follow a strict Code of Practice and if I should break that code, I would be asked to leave. I have no intention of allowing that to happen.

Every client receives an itemised written quotation with detailed job specifications, explaining in detail the work to be carried out and materials used. This is the process if you would like a quote from me.

I comply with all relevant Health and Safety regulations. When working with spray equipment, especially airless spray, it is imperative to be safe and responsible on site and in my clients’ homes.

I am committed to quality, and all work carried out by my company is backed by a Trustmark 2 year guarantee. I also carry full insurance cover for Public and Employers Liability.
